Privacy Policy

1. Publisher

The publisher of "BioApp" is the BioValley College Network Association, Petersgraben 35, 4051 Basel (hereinafter "BCN"). It is responsible for the content of the BioApp.

2. Provision

The BioApp is provided free of charge by BCN. To download the BioApp, you must register with the respective marketplace (for iOS devices in the App Store, operated by Apple Inc., Cupertino, USA, and for Android devices on Google Play, operated by Google LLC, Mountain View, USA) under the terms and conditions applicable there.

3. Registration / Login

When you open the BioApp after downloading it, you can use all the functions offered without having to register or log in. You therefore do not have to provide us with any personal data.

When opening the BioApp, a device ID and a session ID are generated. The device ID identifies your device so that scores can be stored locally on your device. This device ID remains on your device until the BioApp is deleted or uninstalled. The session ID expires when you close the BioApp. A new session ID is generated when the BioApp is reopened.

4. Statistics

We only evaluate the following statistics for the purpose of maintaining the functionalities and for the further development of the BioApp:

• use of the app: number of uses per day, duration of use in seconds per day, number of players per day
• information on the games: average playing time in seconds per day, number of games per day, average number of games per user per day
• information on the questions: questions answered by level and subject area.

None of the statistics relate to a specific or identifiable person. It is not in our interest to draw conclusions about individuals; such an approach is also not planned.

5. Updates

The quiz questions are continuously updated and supplemented when reopening the BioApp. No personal data is collected in this context either.

6. Code

A teacher has the option of selecting questions specifically for a group of people and assigning them a code. If you want to play such a question block, the teacher must give you the code. The teacher is not provided with any personal feedback. They can neither see who played and, if applicable, for how long, nor who gave which answers.

7. Hosting

The data is hosted by our hosting partner in Switzerland, who does not access the content data. The Bern University of Applied Sciences is responsible for the development and operation of the BioApp on our behalf. No data is shared with third parties.

8. Server Log Files

When using the app, certain access data is stored in log files. These log files contain information on the IP address, web client used, operating system, access time and error messages.

This data cannot be linked to specific persons. This data is not merged with other data sources. We reserve the right to review this data later if we become aware of specific indications of illegal use.
